Greetings! Thanks so much for stopping in to check us out at Advent Lutheran Church. I am Justin Grimm and have the privilege of being the pastor of this wonderful community of faith that is developing in Lake Ann. I hope that you will sometime come and experience this vibrant community and join us for worship. So that you don’t feel like a stranger when you enter our doors, here is a little info on me...

    I was born in Madison, South Dakota as the younger of two children. While growing up, my family attended church regularly. It was not until I was into my high school years where I realized the value of a church family. Through many ups and downs of life, the family I had at church was always there to support and walk with me. My hope is that Advent can be that community for all the people that call it home. After graduating high school, I attended Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa and majored in psychology with a minor in religion.

    During my college years I journeyed to Klein Ranch, a Lutheran outdoors bible camp in Western South Dakota. While there, many great things happened. First of all, I met my wife Anna who was also on the staff. We were married shortly thereafter, and she continues to be my rock and support in all I do. Also at camp, I learned the importance of relationships, and that our faith calls us to be in community with one another- carrying each other’s burdens and celebrating in each other’s good times. Camp also led me to further consider a calling into the ministry (something I had been a bit tentative to think about previously).

    That calling led me to enroll in Luther Seminary in St. Paul. While I was working towards my Master of Divinity, Anna was studying to earn her Master of Marriage and Family Therapy degree.

    Upon graduation from seminary in May, 2005, I was assigned to our Synod- the North/West Lower Michigan Synod. I met with the Bishop and his staff, and I was asked to consider a call as a mission developer to help establish a new congregation. And here we are! Anna and I, along with our two children, Logan and Payton, love this area and feel very much at home here.

    My goal as the pastor at Advent Lutheran Church is to challenge all who enter our doors to think and rethink about what it means to be a disciple of our Loving Lord Jesus Christ. Together, as a community of faith we will strive to share the story of God’s amazing love with all people we meet.
