Summer Adventure Camp Opening Day

Today was the first day of Summer Adventure Camp. There was a lot of excitement around camp today, and I know you're all curious how it went, so here are some quick highlights!

The weather today was clear blue skies, about 65 in the morning, and warmer in the afternoon. The theme of the week is "In the Garden", and to kick off the day, the kids planted seeds and watered them, played silly garden-themed games, read the book "The Hungry Caterpillar", and began the process of snacking like the very Hungry Caterpillar with "1 Apple on Monday". They completed a color-themed scavenger hunt and explored the back 5 acres of the property looking for colorful plants, berries, and flowers. Lots of fun was had in the tent, the sandbox, making some friendship bracelets and decorating the pavement with sidewalk chalk.

All of today's snacks and lunch were enjoyed outside on the picnic tables with blue umbrellas. Today's menu was:

  • Morning snack: Sliced apples with our camp-signature peanut-butter yogurt dip with cinnamon.

  • Lunch: Grilled cheese and tomato soup with goldfish, watermelon, and sliced veggies.

  • Afternoon snack: Fresh popcorn.

It was a wonderful day today, and we've got the whole rest of the week filled with fun adventures, including painting some birdhouses, digging for worms in both real dirt and dirt cake, and planting a veggie garden.

If you are reading this and you haven't yet registered your child for camp, we have at least a few spots left in each week of camp coming up, so check out www.adventlakeann.org/camp and consider joining in the fun. Call or email camp@adventlakeann.org if you have any questions.
